Simplifying: make (something) simpler or easier to do or understand.
Rounding: alter (a number) to one less exact but more convenient for calculations.
Estimating: roughly calculate or judge the value, number, quantity, or extent of.

In Reading we have been reading Little Truff

Kahikatea Assembly

 On Friday (last term) it was the Kahikatea Assembly and RM 8, RM 9 and RM 10 had to show off their skills to the whole School.RM 8 did Tempo (Fast and Slow.) RM 9 did Dynamics ( Loud and soft.) RM 10 did Pitch( high and low.)

This week it was pretty fun so:

Monday: We were practicing our rotation. First we went to practice our songs that we are performing today at assembly. Then we went to practice our gymnastics that we had to practice on Wednesday:

Beam, Vault, Floor.

Tuesday: On Tuesday the Cheer leading team (Yr 3-8) practiced our cheer leading routine for Wednesday. We practiced from 9:00 till 2:55. This practice was pretty fun. During this practice we got to have a coloring in competition. After we had packed all the mats Kara our cheer leading coach choose the person who got the winner for...

Reflection:

Maths:In maths I have learnt about Statistics. To me Statistics means…Tally charts, Money, Percentages, Bar Graph, Pie graph, Probability, Decimals, Stats, Amounts, Chances and Numbers. When we were having fun (and being awesome) we voted out of our fast foods and this is what we got:Pita Pit: 7. Chinese: 2.  Pizza : 2.  Sushi: 7.  Subway: 12.

Reading:The book I’m reading from the school library is Wonderstruck. From the Waipa District Library is The Marvels (2 book from Wonderstruck).

Writing:

For writing we have been researching on our speech topics. My speech topic is 'We should be doing more to look after our native birds (and animals): (Here is a link to half the amount of my facts): Speech Topic Research

Spelling:

This week for spelling I am on list Q. I have tried hard to practice my words. When it was actual spelling I got 39 words right. The only words I had gotten wrong was:

* Muscles

* Permission.

#Room 8: 
In Room 8 for inquiry we have been learning about different types of  music:
* Tempo
* Pitch
* Dynamics
We listened to different pieces of music from different types of artists.
My favorite type of music is Hip Hop or Radio. My favorite thing was listening to (most of ) the music and playing the instruments.

#Room 9:
In Room 9 we have been learning about the treaty of waitangi. The whole team went on a walk to the barren and redoubt. We had to research about the heritage of Pirongia. My favorite part of the walk was being able to talk to my friends.

#Room 10:
In Room 10 we have been making up different types of games that will interact the younger kids. Our game was called Balls and Hula-Hoops, the reason we called our game balls and hula-hoops, is because the equipment we used the name of our game (which was Balls and Hula-Hoops) My favorite bit of the integrity game was showing the kids. My favorite thing was showing and being the example of how to play the game.

My Reflection🍩😎😜😝Maths: This week in maths we have been learning about what place values are. When I was with Mr Gemmell, I answered Place Value is Ones, Tens, Hundreds, Thousands and so on. I found it easier working alone with our follow up questions. I found it difficult working on my F.I.O with a lot of noise. I taught the class (with Kayla) how to play the Area Game. Ella and I played the Area Game and we made quite clever piece of art work. 

Reading: For reading this week I am Reading Mr Gum and the secret Hideout: I liked how the little girl Polly is described as a superhero and Friday the elderly has worked on other jobs except working in an Office that he can build. With Mr Gemmell we read a poem called The Sink written by Greg O'Connell. We read this book because it was about Similes and Metaphors which we are learning in Writing (coming up).

Writing: In Writing we are learning about Similes and Metaphors. We had to go with our buddies (buddy was Israel). My sentence is: The Black lion cub lingers around his parents like a baby has just learnt how to walk. I liked this sentence because I liked Black Cubs. I found it difficult trying to think of a sentence straight away instead we had like 2 minutes to figure a sentence out.

Spelling: This Friday I had my spelling pattern test this morning I got 10 out of 10 which is an achievement for me because the other times I have done spelling pattern test I have got either between 2 and 4 wrong at least ( so I have officially achieved my goal. Yay! 😁😏). For my alphabetical list I got 2 words wrong which were: decent and ferocious. At first I spelt decent as descent and ferocious as furocious.

Others: On Thursday Kahikatea Team went to climb Pirongia Mountain. At first it was pretty boring ( I thought so) but when it came to the stream watching Mrs Hobbs slip in the stream was actually pretty funny ( and getting soggy shoes and socks was funny to). And then after that it got really fun. I thought the biking track was long but cool and tiring.

Yo, this term we have been learning about ART.

Artists: 

Pablo Picasso

Vincent Van Gogh.

This art right here is my Graffiti. The one on the right is my cubism. The other pieces of art are Starry Night and Photography and Random art. The person here is Vincent Van Gogh. He was the one who introduced the Starry Night. Vincent Van Gogh passed away  July 29, 1890. We learnt how he expressed his feelings ( like the Starry Night.) My favourite art piece was the Starry Night. How we did this:

Step 1: Copy the draft off a computer.

Step 2: Make an actual copy of the Starry Night.

Steps 3: Get some paint (Yellow, Dark Blue, Light Blue, Black, and White.)
